Viewing a contract's history and versions
Every counterproposal, amendment, and change on a contract is recorded. This article covers how to read that history from the contract's timeline view.
Opening the history
Click View history in the toolbar of any contract you're viewing. This opens a chronological timeline of every event tied to that contract — including events on any counterproposals or amendments created from it.

Each entry on the timeline shows:
- An event type badge — Original, Counter-Proposed, Amended, or Terminated.
- How long ago it happened, with the exact date and time available on hover.
- Who made the change.
- A short audit reference for that event.
If the event is a counterproposal that created a separate child contract, the card includes a link straight to that contract.
Seeing what changed
Click Show changes on any event with recorded field changes to expand a before-and-after comparison — the old value and the new value, side by side, for every field that event touched. This is the same view whether the event was a counter, an amendment, or any other change with a recorded delta.
FAQ
Does history show every single keystroke while I'm editing?
No. Autosave keeps your draft current as you type, but the history timeline records meaningful events — counterproposals, amendments, and similar lifecycle changes — not every individual field edit along the way.
Can I undo a change from the history view?
History is a read-only record for review and audit purposes. To reverse a change, create a new amendment or counterproposal with the corrected values rather than editing history directly.
Why don't I see any events on a brand-new draft?
A freshly created draft that hasn't been sent, countered, or amended yet has no recorded events — the timeline fills in once something actually happens to the contract.
